Summer Newsbook with a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean regional energy sector opportunities
HFI is delighted to share our Summer Newsbook with a focus on the Eastern Mediterranean regional energy sector opportunities.
As the global energy landscape continues to be shaped by geopolitical change, energy security priorities, market volatility and the evolving pace of the energy transition, the Eastern Mediterranean is attracting increasing attention from investors, operators and governments. Against this backdrop, this edition explores the opportunities emerging across one of the world’s most dynamic energy regions.
A particular focus of this edition is the launch of HFI’s Eastern Mediterranean office in Cyprus, a strategic step in the continued development of our international footprint. As a gateway between Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, Cyprus will serve as HFI’s regional hub, supporting clients across key Eastern Mediterranean markets including Italy, Greece, Israel, Egypt, Libya and Tunisia.
The region is playing an increasingly important role in Europe’s energy security and energy transition ambitions, with significant investment being directed towards deepwater gas developments, subsea power transmission infrastructure, offshore renewables, LNG and hydrogen projects. The Newsbook highlights a number of important market developments, including the Final Investment Decision on Cyprus’ Cronos gas development, Egypt’s strengthening position as the region’s LNG hub, BP’s continued investment in Egypt and Egypt’s settlement of US$6.1 billion in outstanding energy sector arrears. Together, these developments demonstrate how the Eastern Mediterranean is evolving into an increasingly integrated energy ecosystem, supported by cross-border infrastructure, international operators and long-term strategic investment. HFI’s expansion into the Eastern Mediterranean reflects our continued commitment to investing in our people, strengthening our specialist capabilities and expanding our regional presence. The publication also includes updates on HFI’s continued growth, including the promotion of Mark O’Toole to Partner and the ongoing development of our specialist Acquisitions & Divestments practice. With transaction activity remaining strong across the energy sector, we look forward to publishing the latest edition of our Acquisitions & Divestments in the Middle East & Eastern Mediterranean Guidebook later this summer.
We hope you find the insights valuable and should you wish to discuss any of the topics covered or explore opportunities within the region, our team would be delighted to support you.
