HFI extends our warm congratulations to owner Bruce McGarian of Aberdeen based McGarian TDC, a firm specialising in the design of whipstocks, casing & packer milling, fishing & remedial products – on the successful sale of the company to Norway’s Odfjell Technology.  

Odfjell Technology is an integrated supplier of offshore operations, well services technology and engineering solutions.  This acquisition will further enhance the product line offering of its Well Services Business Area, enhancing its capabilities in the slot recovery and plug and abandonment sectors of the energy industry.  

It has been a privilege to support Bruce and the McGarian TDC team in their successful Saudi Arabia local partner venture signed up in 2020. Saudi remains one of the most prospective global energy markets in the period to 2030 with US$216bn of energy projects being tracked by the EIC (Energy Industries Council) Datastream. The petroleum sector has US$131bn of projects on file, dominated by Aramco’s upstream and midstream capex projects and downstream JVs investments. Next week we will see the Kingdom host the Society of Petroleum Engineers International Well Integrity Management Symposium which focuses on well technology and know-how developments and also with dedicated sessions on CCUS and geothermal.
