Logan's Run accelerates in hydrogen race to the Middle East

This week in Dubai World Hydrogen Leaders MENA is taking place from 26-29 February. The event brings together the entire hydrogen value chain across MENA and the rest of the world to accelerate global clean hydrogen development. With favourable geographic conditions for renewables and an established traditional energy export sector, the region has an exceptional opportunity to become a global clean hydrogen powerhouse, as seen in World Hydrogen’s report ‘The Road from COP28: Investment Trends in MENA's Hydrogen Sector in 2023’. https://lnkd.in/eWiAQ_KD

This week Hugh Fraser International was delighted to hear that Logan Energy Limited, a leading hydrogen technology company based in Edinburgh, secured £5 million of investment to develop its systems-led approach in the emerging hydrogen power sector. Led by CEO Bill Ireland, Logan Energy is a leading hydrogen technology company with a proven track record for delivering affordable, market ready projects and solutions in the low carbon, renewable energy, and hydrogen sectors.

Logan Energy Limited has received more than 50% of the overall figure from green energy investment company, Lanxing New Energy, based in Singapore. The balance of the investment was made by Scottish Enterprise who continue to support Logan on their strategic growth path. The funds will enable Logan Energy to develop its technology base and facilities, grow its workforce within the hydrogen sector in Edinburgh and expand internationally.

Logan Energy recently took part in a hydrogen technology Trade Mission to the UAE led by Scottish Development International and has development facilities at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. Heriot-Watt University, Dubai Campus played a key role at COP28 UAE where it was a pleasure to meet up with Tulika Raj, CEO and Tim Rockell, SVP Business Development with SunGreenH2 at the Heriott-Watt Climate Hub exhibition. SunGreenH2’s ground-breaking technology allows affordable green hydrogen to be used for wide scale adoption.

Hugh Fraser International is keen to play its part in supporting its clients’ energy transition ventures with HFI Net Zero Legal Solutions focussing on clean energy ventures involving the likes of hydrogen, carbon capture and methane emissions.

HFI have been privileged to support the Global CCS Institute in its expansion in the Middle East and it was a pleasure to meet up with the Mohammad Abu Zahra, Head of MENA at Global CSS Institute in EGYPES - Egypt Energy Show 2024 last week, at which he was presenting. The Global CCS Institute has published its flagship CCS technology compendium titled State of the Art: CCS Technologies 2023. The compendium showcases a wide range of commercially available CCS technologies, providing insights on the latest advancements made globally.
