HFI Petroleum Technology Solutions expands to Qatar energy business ventures in collaboration with our local partners in Doha
HFI Consulting International is pleased to announce the roll out of our HFI Petroleum Technology Solutions for Qatar energy business ventures in collaboration with our local partners in Doha.
The start of 2021 has seen the welcome return of Qatar to the GCC diplomatic fold and this has been marked by the announcement of major expansion of LNG production facilities at the North Field. The current installed capacity of 77 million tonnes per annum is to be increased to 110 million by 2025 and 2027 million by 126 million. There will also be associated major expansion projects at Hamad Port and Hamad International Airport.
The first phase of the expansion includes contracts for associated onshore liquefaction and storage facilities, the construction of new liquefied natural gas or LNG trains, utilities and off-site facilities, a helium recovery unit, nontechnical buildings, warehouses, workshops and associated amenities.
Qatar is also pushing on with its carbon capture and storage projects which aim to store more than 5 million tonnes of CO2 emissions by 2025. This is closely linked to the targeted growth in LNG production volumes and it is aiming for a 25% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions compared to similar facilities through substantial reduction of fuel gas consumption by capturing and re-injecting CO2 extracted from the feed gas.
This new major investment comes on the back of the recent relaxation of foreign ownership laws to allow 100% foreign ownership of businesses. Qatar is now firmly back on the map.
