Green Recovery Plan Launched by The Scottish Council for Development and Industry (SCDI)

A new plan has been launched by the SCDI outlining a ‘green recovery from the COVID 19 pandemic. Developed by the SCDI Clean Growth Leadership Group which brings together leaders and experts from business, industry, local government and the public sector, the plan aims to tackle climate changes with practical ideas and actions.

The plan has five cross sector themes which include workers, skills and jobs; citizens, consumers and communities; and leadership. partnership and collaboration. The plan recommends that the UK and Scottish Governments should deliver a large scale fiscal stimulus package which invests in green infrastructure and other low – or zero –  carbon projects across Scotland. It also advocates for the reform of public sector procurement to build more local, sustainable and resilient supply chains along with the acceleration of net zero progress through support packages.

The plan outlines the SCDI’s calls for a green jobs transition taskforce and a green reskilling and upskilling fund and new ‘net zero presumption in favour; in planning.
