Colin Maver to drive Starn Group as 12 years banked in the Middle East

Great to catch up recently with Colin Maver, a long standing connection who has recently taken on the role of CEO of the Starn Group. Previously Colin held roles as Managing Director at R&M Engineering (Huntly) Ltd. and Director of Dron & Dickson. The Starn Group is a private equity-backed group of businesses focused on safety and delivering economic benefit to its customers. It achieves this with a portfolio of technology-led products and services engineered to protect people working in hazardous environments including offshore and onshore oil and gas production facilities, shipping and other marine assets, chemical processing plants, distilleries and food production and processing factories, utilities and water treatment works. These businesses currently comprise Safehouse Habitats Ltd. Habitats, Sabre Safety Services, and Dynamic Air Shelters.

It has been a privilege to represent Safehouse Habitats since it entered the Middle East in 2012.  HFI has now launched the latest edition of its Roadmap to Successful Ventures in the Middle East.  It has been launched in the context of the World Utilities Congress 2024 being held in Abu Dhabi on 16 – 18 September. The Middle East is a key growth market and the EIC (Energy Industries Council) DataStream project database is now tracking 490 energy projects in the GCC for the period to 2030, quantified at US$722 billion. Although, the region continues to be dominated by petroleum sector ventures, the power and transmission & distribution sector (including nuclear) has 90 projects valued at US$105 billion and the energy transition sector including solar, hydrogen, CCS and energy storage has 136 projects valued at US$166 billion.

EIC (Energy Industries Council) Middle East Office, will announce the finalists of the World Energy Supply Chain Awards (WESCAs) at this year’s EIC Middle East, Africa, and CIS Regional Awards on the evening of Thursday, 17th October 2024, aboard the iconic QE2 in Dubai.  This is the third edition of the Regional Awards, an event dedicated to recognising and celebrating excellence in the energy industry, with several high-profile awards to be presented on the night. Finalists are all featured in this year’s edition of EIC’s ‘Survive & Thrive’ and will compete across 12 categories, showcasing the vast expertise the energy industry has to offer.
